ALEX doesn’t just bring new features to yesterday’s simulators, ALEX is a new type of patient simulator. He’s called a Patient Communication Simulator (PCS) because that’s exactly what he does.
ALEX is the first patient simulator to speak in three different ways:
ALEX listens, recognizes predefined questions, and responds with scripted answers related to his condition.
In addition to practicing their clinical assessment and decision-making skills during a stimulation session, with ALEX your learners get to practice their communication skills. With the added voice-enabled service, ALEX will respond to questions common during a patient assessment, like:
“What brings you in today?”
“When did this problem start?”
“On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate the pain?”
“Are you allergic to any medications?”
“Have you been hospitalized before?”
Can we expect learners to articulate exact word-for-word phrases taught during a clinical interviewing course? Not a chance.
